Looking back at 2023–24: our annual review
This year, we’ve worked side by side with the people and organisations we fund to think about where our support can be of most value.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Bernard Dallé, Marcus Davey and Martha MacKenzie to our board of trustees.
Bernard Dallé is a Senior Advisor to P1 Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm focused on African entrepreneurial talent, and an Advisor to Memcyco, a cyber-security company countering online scams and fraud. He is a Trustee of the Northwestern University (USA) Foundation Limited and serves on the Global Advisory Board of the Kellogg school of Management.
Bernard was part of the founding team of Index Ventures, a venture capital firm based in London, San Francisco and Geneva, helping entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into transformative global businesses. In his role as the firm’s Operating Partner, Bernard chaired the Investment Committee and oversaw portfolio construction and liquidity management for Index’s entire family of funds, including seed, venture and growth.
Bernard is currently an advisor to the Investment Committee at Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
Marcus Davey is Chief Executive and Artistic Director at the Roundhouse in London, a world-class music and performing arts venue which at its heart supports thousands of young people each year, helping them to build more positive futures through participating in creative programmes.
Marcus previously served as Head of Arts for Dartington Hall Trust and as Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. He is on the Advisory Board of the Cultural Learning Alliance, as well as being a director of Represent Theatre. Marcus is an honorary fellow of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London and of Dartington College of Arts. He was awarded an OBE in 2012 and a CBE in 2019 for services to the arts and young people.
Martha Mackenzie is the Executive Director of the Civic Power Fund, which is on a mission to build community power through more and better funding for community organising.
Martha’s background is in organising, fundraising and charity leadership. She was previously Head of Global Humanitarian Advocacy at UNICEF in New York and has led teams and campaigns at Shelter and Save the Children in the UK. Martha is also a Trustee of Oxfam GB.
