Through the Youth Strategic Investment Fund, grants of £550,000 (plus a package of expert support worth over £175,000) have been made to Gendered Intelligence, Peer Power Youth and Reaching Higher.

The new grantholders

We’re pleased to announce three new grants to key organisations supporting and working with young people:

The grants are made through the Youth Strategic Investment Fund, which supports the development, sustainability and impact of youth-focused organisations. Each year, only a handful of grants are awarded through the Fund, with each significant investment representing a commitment to support organisations to develop their impact in working with young people.

Each grant is a five-year investment of £550,000 to each organisation towards core costs, plus a further package of tailored expert support worth over £175,000. The fund is by invitation only.

We recognise the tremendous value of these three organisations to the young people they work with. These grants represent our long-term commitment to help each organisation sustain and develop their work.

Gendered Intelligence, Peer Power Youth and Reaching Higher all came to us through our Youth Fund, and we are grateful to continue these relationships with more significant, strategic funding through the Youth Strategic Investment Fund.

These grants are core to our mission of building a just society, especially for young people, and we look forward to seeing how each organisation will work with and for young people in the next five years to help get us closer to achieving this.”

Gendered Intelligence

Gendered Intelligence is a trans-led and trans-involving charity that works to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve the lives of trans people.

We’re thrilled to receive this grant from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. It has been a hard few years for the LGBT+ community, and our young people are really feeling the strain. It’s more important than ever that we support them to overcome the challenges ahead and live happy, healthy lives.

Grants like this one will help us continue to provide youth work, sport and physical activity, community groups, and trips and residentials to young people who might not have these opportunities anywhere else. We’ve seen the difference this can make in the first round of our summer camps: young people who were shy and isolated when they arrived are going home making friends, coming out of their shells, and looking forward to their futures.

Peer Power Youth

Peer Power Youth is a national charity that leads with empathy and does vital work to support young people who have experienced trauma.

We are delighted to receive this five-year investment through the Youth Strategic Investment Fund. With this funding, we will invest in leadership development and build on wellbeing and equity. We will continue to lead with empathy and build on strengths focusing on quality, consolidation, and the systemic change needed to address and dismantle inequalities.

We are grateful to partner with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation in our mission to enhance the lives of young people who have experienced trauma. We are honoured to be connected with the other organisations, with whom we look forward to collaborating, supporting, and taking action to ensure we build a just society for young people.

Reaching Higher

Reaching Higher is a charity focused on serving young people and challenging them to be leaders of their own lives.

We are elated to have been selected as a beneficiary of the Youth Strategic Investment Fund. This five-year investment comes at the right time for us. Having undergone a significant growth journey over the last five years, this level of support will help equip us to best shape our next five years at Reaching Higher.

This fund will empower us to further delve into the core aspects of our work and upskill our incredible team, formed predominately of former service-beneficiaries. We will continue to illuminate the value of contextual youth work and youth voice, and we will help to re-write the narrative surrounding pastoral care following the success of our 360 Pastoral Care’ triangulation model. We would like to express our deep sense of gratitude towards Paul Hamlyn for their uncompromising commitment to serve organisations that are driving change through their sphere of influence.
