Halima Khan



Halima joined us as our Chief Executive in November 2024.
Halima is an experienced leader in grant-making, government and the social sector. She specialises in innovation for social good and, in particular, people-powered approaches which build people’s dignity, hope, purpose and agency.
Halima has worked for more than a decade in foundations and grant-making – including as a member of the England Committee at The National Lottery Community Fund and formerly as an Executive Director at Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation.
Halima has also been a senior official in national, regional and local government – at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, Greater London Authority and Camden Council – working across social policy including disability, young people, education and skills, civil society and public health.
Most recently, Halima was working independently, advising and working with foundations, government and think tanks. As well as her non-executive position at The National Lottery Community Fund, Halima is a member of the Public Policy Committee at the British Academy. In 2015 Halima was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Health Sciences from Anglia Ruskin University for her work on ‘people powered health’.
