Racial Justice Audit Analysis of PHF’s UK Grant-making 2022/23

We have applied the Funders for Race Equality Alliance (FREA) racial justice audit tool to our UK grant-making each year since 2020/21. This enables us to analyse our portfolios in terms of the proportion of funding awarded to organisations led by and for communities experiencing racial inequity. In this report, we consider the results of the 2022/23 audit in the context of the two previous audits, considering the changes that have been made in our grant-making and opportunities for further improvement. Participating in the audit has given us a new perspective on our grant-making and will inform shifts in our practice that form part of our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

In this blog, Ruth Pryce, Head of Programme – Young People, and Sarah Eberhardt, Evidence and Learning Analyst, reflect on the results of our latest racial justice audit and discuss the increase in racial justice funding we’ve seen across our work Investing in Young People.
