Kinship Programme

This programme is invitation-only.

About the Programme

We have launched a 12-month test and learn programme with organisations working collaboratively with young people aged 16–25 across the UK. This programme will support organisations to test, explore and learn what skills, experiences, and relationships young people want and need to help them build a more hopeful future together.

Our starting point is that young people are looking for something new and different to do this — and we’d like to test whether this is the case and what it could look like. We want to understand what skills, capabilities, mindsets and learning young people need to create futures where they can thrive, take action and feel hopeful.

We recognise that the world is changing at a rapid pace and that the future might feel challenging and overwhelming for young people. We also know there is work across the UK that is responding to this in creative and imaginative ways, supporting young people to become co-creators of the future.

The Kinship Community of Practice includes 27 organisations working across and between cultural, civic and social sectors. It includes two cohorts who will support the learning and development of Kinship.

Test & Learn Cohort

The Test & Learn cohort is a group of 8 organisations that will test two core learning propositions through a focused enquiry question and take part in test and learn activities exploring how their existing practice supports young people to have hopeful futures. These two learning propositions are: a network of spaces across the UK and a future-focused learning experience.

Community of Interest

The Community of Interest is a broader group of 19 organisations brought together to build a network that explores the two core learning propositions of Kinship, enabling wider peer learning, reflection and inspiration.

Core Propositions

The programme seeks to test two core propositions with organisations:

Insight and learning

We are working with Studio Susegad as our Learning & Facilitation Partner to deliver a support programme to enable inspiration, testing and learning over the next 12 months.

Studio Susegad is a creative studio and social research consultancy, (pronounced soo-seh-gahd meaning calm and content in Konkani).

We aim to share insights and learning from the programme more widely to inform practice and investment with and for young people that equips them to create hopeful futures and that lays the foundations for future generations.

About Kinship

Throughout 2024, we embarked on Kinship Discovery — a period of exploration, research and thinking to inform a funding initiative focused on young people and hope for the future.

We gained insight into work happening across the UK and internationally from people who are asking different questions and practicing new ways of supporting young people to create hopeful futures.

PHF will be learning from Kinship to inform how we and others can best support young people to create hopeful futures — in terms of investment, support and opportunities.
