We have made grants to three organisations supporting young people through our Youth Strategic Investment Fund.

We have awarded grants of over £2 million, supporting three organisations who have a strong track record of working with young people to achieve positive change.

The organisations are:

These grants are made through our Youth Strategic Investment Fund. The Youth Strategic Investment Fund provides long-term, core funding to support the development, sustainability and impact of youth-focused organisations.

Each grant is a five-year investment of £550,000 to each organisation, plus a further package of expert support worth over £200,000. This support is a strategic investment designed to influence the shape of an organisation, the impact of their work and position within the field. The Youth Strategic Investment Fund is by invitation only. Find out more about the fund.

The Youth Strategic Investment Fund reflects the Foundation’s commitment to long-term, relational grant-making. Each grant is a bespoke investment tailored to support the complexities of organisational development and an organisation’s ambitions to strengthen their impact.”

Halima Khan, Chief Executive, Paul Hamlyn Foundation

Halima continues: The three organisations we’re supporting this year are working side by side with young people to tackle some of the most pressing issues they face. We are delighted to make this long-term investment in powerful work with and for young people.“

ECPAT UK (Every Child Protected Against Trafficking)

ECPAT UK (Every Child Protected Against Trafficking) is a leading children’s rights organisation working to protect children from trafficking and exploitation. They seek to end all forms of child trafficking and exploitation, prevent harm and secure systemic change that improves protection, care and justice, guided by the ethical and meaningful involvement and participation of young people.

Child trafficking is child abuse but too often the response is hostility, criminalisation and increased risk. We are grateful that Paul Hamlyn Foundation is committed to supporting the change needed to realise their rights, and to working together to strengthen our impact and make a real difference.”

Patricia Durr, Chief Executive Officer, ECPAT UK

The Foyer Federation

The Foyer Federation is a national charity working to break the cycle of youth homelessness. They work with youth supported-housing projects to create living and learning communities, where young people who can’t live at home can realise their own power and purpose and move on to thrive in adulthood.

We are delighted to receive this backing from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation through the Youth Strategic Investment Fund. PHF have long been advocates of our Advantaged Thinking approach and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support as we take the next step in our journey championing young people’s strengths and potential.”

Joel Lewis, Chief Executive, The Foyer Federation

Joel continues: Young people who can’t live at home – and the services that support them – are facing some of the biggest challenges we’ve ever seen, which means that our role in building resilience, capacity and quality in youth supported housing has never been more important. This investment means that we can really deepen our impact and ensure that young people across the UK who are experiencing homelessness continue to have safe and nurturing spaces to see their own power, build on their strengths, and thrive as they transition to adulthood.”

We Belong

We Belong is a migrant youth-led organisation, campaigning for the rights of young migrants, developing young leaders by providing advice, support and training. Their vision is for all young migrants in the UK to be treated equally and fairly by the society they call home. We Belong has a dual aim of changing policies that prevent young migrants from participating in society as well as enabling young migrants to build power.

This investment comes at a critical time and recognises the importance of youth-led organisations in driving lasting systems change. Crucially, this investment recognises that internal infrastructure is not separate from impact work, it is what makes impact possible. Investing in the systems, care and support that sustain staff with lived experience is essential to building resilient organisations and creating the conditions for long-term change.”
