Linda Bell
Visual Arts recipient 2026
Linda Bell creates large-scale, interactive, and performative sculptural works. Through her multifaceted, experimental approach, Linda explores the sensory nature of materials, such as foil, paper, and fabric. The tactile qualities of the materials are vital, and Linda seeks out materials that satisfy her need to create certain movements and shapes. By joining and reshaping her materials into multiple repeating forms, Linda expands her works into larger pieces, which she transforms through movement, interaction, and impromptu performance. Sharing the movement of her sculptural work and the performative experience is crucial to her practice, for Linda to explore the relationship between herself, her work and the viewer or collaborator.
Recent exhibitions include Methodical Process, a three-artist group show at the Lovay Gallery, Geneva, and Uniqlo Tate Play, ‘Loop. Swing. Shake. Remake’, a solo exhibition at the Tate Modern Tanks. For Tate Play, Linda was commissioned to create an interactive installation presenting her original artworks alongside large-scale interactive structures, inviting visitors to create sculptures in response to Linda’s work. Visitors were guided by a film capturing Linda’s sculptural process as part of a non-verbal invitation to create.
Linda recently was a lead artist on an ongoing residency project with One Trust, a day service for adults with complex learning disabilities in Wandsworth. Linda has worked extensively with One Trust participants, sharing her sculptural practice and together creating new collaborative art works. The residency led to BLOWOUT, a fully interactive live art installation presented at the Royal College of Art’s Hangar Gallery, July 2026.
