Visual Arts recipient 2025

Ima-Abasi Okon works across sculpture, sound, and video to create multilayered installations. In 2025, Okon presented a solo exhibition spanning all ten galleries of the Van Abbemuseum’s old building in Eindhoven, and developed a new commission with Haus am Waldsee in Berlin, responding to the practice of Beverly Buchanan. Previous projects include a Avg Pace: S %~E ~L%~A%~ H%~s%~peri£meno£pau£sal~P%~S%~A %~L ~M%~’S km —(t!h!a!tyes‑t!!hhat incumbent experiential plane to reorganise a c,a,p,a,c,i,t,y of never having enough— Not as a whole but as aprecise h!e!a!p of digni-fide agility) & S.t.a.n.d.a.r.d. P.r.a.c.t.i.c.e, Kunstverein Hamburg, Hamburg.I K,A,R,A,O,K,E, — O.O.P.S: Insubordinate Rhythms, i. Grace, ii. Labour, iii. Psalm, iv, v, Against the conditions of the Day, her second self published project was released at the end of 2023.
