Matthew Mannix

Interim Head of Programme — Young People

Matthew joined PHF as Interim Head of Programme—Young People in 2026.

Prior to this, he was an Investment Manager at Impetus, a funder focused on supporting organisations working with young people experiencing disadvantage in the UK to succeed in education and employment. In this role, he partnered with senior leadership teams in portfolio organisations to strengthen strategy, programme design and impact practice, and identified new organisations for Impetus to partner with.

Matthew previously served as a Grants Manager at PHF from 2023–24, where he managed relationships with organisations in the Youth Fund. Before that, he was a consultant at New Philanthropy Capital, a think tank and consultancy for the social sector, where he spent three years advising the Stone Family Foundation on its philanthropy focused on young people experiencing disadvantage and people experiencing poor mental health. He also worked on evaluations for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport’s Youth Investment Fund and its Coronavirus Community Support Fund. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Impact and Evidence team at London Youth, supporting organisations to develop their approaches to measuring and managing impact.

Matthew has also served as a Trustee of The 93% Club, a charity supporting state-educated students from working-class backgrounds to access the networks, opportunities and careers typically reserved for the privately educated.

Matthew is passionate about using the power of philanthropy to back young people to achieve their potential and shape the world they live in.
