Innovation Labs’ Doc Ready website launched

Doc Ready, a digital tool set up to help young people make the most of mental health-related GP visits, is launched today.

Doc Ready is an interactive website and app that helps young people know what to expect during a GP consultation, builds their confidence to deal with GPs, and records the outcomes of their appointments.

Research by Right Here Brighton and Hove, into the effectiveness of GPs in helping young people in mental distress, found that only half of young people feel comfortable speaking to their GP about emotional and mental health issues.

Doc Ready was developed by Enabled By Design, Neontribe, Futuregov and Social Spider, with funding from the Innovation Labs programme, a collaboration between Comic Relief, Nominet Trust and the Right Here Special Initiative.

The launch is taking place in Brighton and will provide an opportunity to find out more about Doc Ready and how it works, and to meet the team behind the project.

The Innovation Labs programme was set up four years ago and is currently funding the design and build of seven apps and websites. Each project has been working alongside young people to design and develop activities that hope to build the resilience of young people at risk of developing mental health problems while also raising awareness of mental health. The work is taking place between March 2013 and June 2014. Doc Ready is the first to be launched.
