Paul Hamlyn Foundation appoints Martin Brookes as new Director

Martin Brookes, previously Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital, has been appointed as the new Director of the Foundation. He will take up his post on 10 June 2013. He succeeds Robert Dufton, who is stepping down to join the Centre for Charity Effectiveness at Cass Business School.

Trained as an economist, Martin Brookes worked at the Bank of England and Goldman Sachs, before joining New Philanthropy Capital in 2001 as Head of Research. He was appointed Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital in 2008 and worked there until 2011, when he rejoined the private sector as Economist at Fulcrum Asset Management.He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of Pro Bono Economics, which he co-founded in 2009, and was previously a non-executive council member of the Economics and Social Research Council.
