Welcoming two new trustees

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Akeela Ahmed and Andy Headley
to our board of trustees:

Akeela Ahmed MBE is a business leader, social entrepreneur and government advisor specialising in equalities campaigning. Since 2012, she has sat on the cross-government Working Group on Anti-Muslim Hatred, and became chair of the group in 2016. Previously, she was Chief Executive of the Muslim Youth Helpline for three years and co-organiser of the Women’s March on London. She holds an MSc in Mental Health Studies from the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London and is an alumni of the Blavatnick School of Government, University of Oxford and Operation Black Vote Pathway to Success Leadership Programme. In 2014, Akeela founded ‘She Speaks We Hear’, an online platform bringing women’s voices together. She is a newspaper reviewer on BBC Radio London and a regular contributor to national and international media.

Andy Headley is a co-founder of Veritas Asset Management where he manages the firm’s global equity strategies. Prior to founding Veritas in 2003, Andy worked as an investment analyst and portfolio manager at Newton Investment Management (1996-2001) and at WP Stewart (2001-2003). He qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PWC in 1996 and is a graduate of Durham University. Andy and his family support a variety of educational charities, mainly involved in helping children and young people who are experiencing disadvantage, including Harris Federation, Arbib Education Trust and Outward Bound.
