Theatre Centre launches Skylines

The Theatre Centre, a professional theatrical touring company which works to improve the quality of drama for children and young people in schools and theatres, has launched a new online resource for writers of children’s plays.

The resource was created to support the professional development of writers at all stages of their careers, and inspire emerging amateur playwrights to write for audiences aged 4-18. It features a range of regularly updated content, including news articles, interviews with industry figures, information about the sector, details of different opportunities for playwrights, and sample extracts from plays.

The resource forms part of the Theatre Centre’s ‘Skylines’ project, an initiative to get playwrights to develop skills for the Young Person’s Theatre sector. It benefited from funding from the Foundation from 2011-13, receiving an Arts programme open grant of £53,800 to go towards research and development work to build the capacity of the sector, including the design and delivery of the online resource.
