Moira Sinclair appointed Vice Chair to Mayor of London’s Cultural Leadership Board

Mayor’s Cultural Leadership Board

The Mayor’s Cultural Leadership Board will pool its skills and expertise to affect real change across London’s arts and cultural landscape. The Board will play a key role in delivering the Mayor’s ambitious plans for culture, supporting London’s artists and creatives, embedding culture in the development of the capital and promoting the power of the arts to build stronger communities. Commenting on her appointment as Vice Chair to the Board, our CEO, Moira Sinclair said:

“I am proud to be joining such a hardworking and inspirational group of leaders, and to be supporting a Mayor who has made culture and the creative industries a priority and is prepared to invest to back that commitment.

I know first-hand from my past work at the Arts Council the rich innovation, creativity and flair that London has to offer, and how important that is for the city’s growth, for the wellbeing of those who call it home and for the strength of many national partnerships and programmes.  The Mayor’s vision is to harness the power of creativity to transform communities, and that fits very well with our priorities at Paul Hamlyn Foundation to widen access and participation in the arts across the UK and to help people overcome disadvantage and lack of opportunity.

The present climate poses questions for us all about how we might address the issues we face, how to find fresh and engaging ways to help the capital’s young people to achieve their full potential, how to ensure that different voices are heard and that space is found for authentic and sometimes challenging debate. As Vice Chair, I look forward to working with the Board to help bring culture to centre stage in conversations where its potential may not yet be fully realised.”
