Claire Whitaker is the Bid Director for Southampton City of Culture 2025. Prior to this, she was a Director of Serious, the award-winning producer of live music working across the UK and Internationally. Claire is currently Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society, the leading civil society organisation across the Commonwealth and helped to found the Caine Prize for African Writing. Previously she was Director of Africa 95, a cross-arts celebration of the art of Africa which took place across the UK and the African continent with President Nelson Mandela as its patron.
