Ideas and Pioneers Fund is Open for Applications

Paul Hamlyn Foundation is now inviting applications to our Ideas and Pioneers Fund. The fund has reopened for applications after an initial pilot in 2015. We are looking for people with unusual or radical ideas to improve the life chances and opportunities of people in the UK.

The Ideas and Pioneers Fund offers grants in the region of £10,000 to nurture an idea at the early-stages of development. We are interested in supporting people with great ideas to develop them into effective approaches to tackling social issues. We are looking for ideas that relate closely with our charitable mission – we aim to help people overcome disadvantage and lack of opportunity, so that they can realise their potential and enjoy fulfilling and creative lives. We are willing to fund 100 per cent of the costs of proposals and would seek to be the first and main funder invested in an idea.

We are looking for people who are not only committed to making their idea a reality, but who can also demonstrate that they are right person to carry out the work.  We are seeking people who are enthusiastic about their ideas, willing to adapt and learn from findings throughout the process and able to drive change forward. We are keen to receive applications from people who have not applied to us before or who have not received grant funding previously.

This fund is now operating on a rolling basis and applications can be submitted at any time.

This fund will not support work where the primary purpose is creating works of art or ideas that replicate approaches or models already established in the UK. Each application must have a lead pioneer aged 18 years or over.

During the initial pilot in 2015 we made 11 grants; details can be found in our grants database and featured grantees are available on our website.
